A new telehealth platform, Cope Now, has launched in Colorado, aiming to establish a regulated clinical pathway for prescription CBD access. Developed by Watkins-based Kazmira Therapeutics, known for its Kazmira Pharmacy and Cannabidiol API initiatives, the platform is designed to connect patients with clinicians for personalised evaluations and access to pharmacy-dispensed, pure compounded cannabidiol (CBD) without tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
According to Cannabis Business Times, this initiative addresses a documented gap in cannabis-based care, particularly concerning dosing and product consistency. A 2021 peer-reviewed study indicated that a significant portion of active CBD users consume relatively low amounts, while clinical research suggests that efficacy in certain conditions may require higher doses. Cope Now aims to provide a structured pathway for patients to receive clinically-evaluated doses through licensed clinician evaluation and pharmacy dispensing, moving beyond the often-unregulated consumer market.
Bridging the Dosing Gap and Ensuring Clinical Oversight for Prescription CBD
The Cope Now platform offers clinician-led telehealth consultations, which are intended to provide personalised evaluations for individuals seeking access to regulated, pharmacy-dispensed prescription CBD. These consultations aim to ensure that care decisions are informed by clinical assessment rather than consumer-driven choices. Clinical oversight for the platform is provided by Arora Health, which aims to ensure structured and supervised support for CBD therapy for patients in the U.S.
Pulak Sharma, co-founder and co-CEO of Kazmira Therapeutics, stated that the platform’s goal is to offer a clinical pathway to ultra-pure compounded CBD that was previously unavailable to patients. “The Cope Now platform provides a structured intake and evaluation process so care decisions are clinically driven, not consumer-directed,” Sharma noted in the press release shared by Cannabis Business Times. He highlighted the importance of a formal process for patients to access this type of care.
Sean Arora, M.D., co-founder and CEO of Arora Health and a prescribing physician on the platform, commented on the evolving landscape of healthcare. “We believe physician-led cannabinoid care programs will become an important part of modern healthcare over the next decade,” Dr. Arora said. He emphasised the importance of several key elements for such programs to be effective and safe:
- Proper patient-provider relationships
- Robust intake and follow-up processes
- Dedicated clinical oversight
- Ongoing patient and clinician education
- Consistent compliance at every level of care
This approach seeks to differentiate prescription CBD from over-the-counter products, which can vary widely in potency and purity.
Navigating Regulatory Shifts and Expanding Access
The introduction of this platform aligns with recent regulatory changes in the United States, which are moving towards a more defined framework for cannabinoid products. Congress officially closed what has been referred to as the “hemp loophole” in November 2025, a measure that previously allowed CBD products containing varying amounts of THC to be widely available in the consumer market. These changes are set to take effect in November 2026, effectively banning intoxicating hemp-derived products from the over-the-counter market and pushing for clearer distinctions between consumer and pharmaceutical-grade products.
This shift underscores a move towards more regulated pathways for cannabinoid products. The Cope Now platform represents an effort to provide a more formalised and clinically supervised route for patients to access CBD, ensuring that products are pharmacy-dispensed and that dosing considerations are guided by professional evaluation, potentially enhancing patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.
While initially launching for patients in Colorado, Kazmira Therapeutics has indicated plans for expansion into additional states in the coming months, potentially broadening access to this model of prescription CBD care across the United States.
