Australian Hemp Cookies For Horses Score Award

In Australia, Queensland’s Hemp Pet has received an Equitana Melbourne 2024 Business Award for its Performance Cookies for Horses.

Equitana is the largest equestrian showcase in the Southern Hemisphere. Held every two years, this year it ran 14 – 17 November in Victoria’s capital city.  The event’s associated awards recognise equestrian businesses for innovation and advancements in the Australian market.

Hemp Pet took out the Equitana Awards 2024 Vet/Feed Innovation category. This award was for products not on the world market before November 2022 and are either significantly different to what is currently available or seek to improve what is already available.

“Our vision has always been to create products that combine innovation, science, and care, and this award validates our mission,” said Hemp Pet CEO Arthur Wajs. ” Winning this award is not only a milestone for HEMP PET but also for the Australian hemp industry, showcasing the potential of hemp as a sustainable and functional ingredient for equine health.”

More than just a treat, the company says the cookies are formulated to provide rapid, bioavailable protein for muscle recovery and growth, and are rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

From seed purchase to local processing and manufacturing, the firm oversees each step in creation of the horse cookies and the hemp seed used is sourced from Tasmanian farmers. Along with a proprietary blend of hemp seed and oil, the performance cookies also contain chickpea flour, rolled oats, flax seeds and chia seeds.

Aside from products for horses, Hemp Pet offers supplements and treats for cats and dogs too. The firm had its beginnings after a couple of the founders were trying to help a much loved family pet suffering from skin cancer.

” This served as their inspiration and motivation to create a superior, natural alternative to traditional dietary supplements for pets,” says the firm. “After experiencing the amazing health benefits of Hemp first hand, Arthur, Sandra and Arthur’s sister Nicole in conjunction with Australian scientists, hemp industry experts, naturopaths and vets developed HempPet.”

As well as pet and stock feed (where legal), hemp has a multitude of applications in agriculture and related industries. Learn about other agricultural uses for hemp. And hemp seed (and hempseed oil) can provide valuable nutrition for humans as well.
